Yellow

Lullabies

Fairouz Gaballa

You strike lightning,
scream thunder.

The clouds shift to ebony black.
Take this harbour of hurt.

You conjure thunderstorms,
rain up an ocean.

The skies tremble, seething purple.
Take this weight from my bones.

You dance under bitter floods,
spit lullabies into a sea of bruises.

The sun seeps into the horizon, thirsty red.
Take the weather from my head.
