Constellate

Dandelions

Megan Grounds

Isn’t it sad

that dandelions

always die in water.

The brightest flower,

the easiest to pick

(no thorns or thistles)

but too wildly unruly

to be cared for.

You cannot force them

to prolong their beauty.

Even in the field

they rush hastily through it,

dying to become

unwished for wishes.
